Motorcyle Trip to Vermont - Day 3

Today was a short, easy day from Plattsburgh, NY to Burlington, VT via the Port Kent ferry. We slept late (10:30) and rode little, spending the large part of the day crossing Lake Champlain, lunching on Church Street in Burlington, and snoozing in the hotel room.

Here's Mackenzie sitting on the bike waiting for the ferry to arrive in Port Kent, NY:

And again, our trip map.

Motorcyle Trip to Vermont/New Hampshire - Day 2

We left Syracuse around 11:00 and made our way Northeast. After making a very quick, unplanned stop to remove the bee that flew into my jacket and was busy stinging me, we ate lunch in Old Forge, NY.

Continuing on thru the Adirondack Park, we rode through several beautiful villages and lake areas. The scenery is incredible, the roads are great with virtually no traffic, and the weather is beautiful. We stopped in Long Lake, NY and Saranac Lake, NY, taking a short nap in the park beside the lake while the cool breeze blew.

You can zoom in on the map below and drag it around with your mouse to get a closer look at the route we took.

Motorcyle Trip to Vermont Day 1

Mackenzie and I left around noon and headed to Syracuse on the first day of our annual motorcycle trip. We made it to her Uncle Andy and Aunt Rosie's house around 6:30 just in time for a hot dog and hamburger dinner.

The map below shows the route of our first day, pretty uneventful and mostly interstate to Syracuse, NY

Mackenzie played with cousins Payton and Reagan while Andy and I talked bikes and roads. Rosie shooed us to a quieter part of the house so we wouldn't disturb Gage's sleep.

Our sleep came easy that night and tomorrow we make our way across the Adirondack Park to Plattsburgh, NY.

Trip to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

I recently rode to Lexington, OH with a couple of buddies for the 2008 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, a three day smorgasbord of everything motorcycling at Mid-Ohio Racetrack. Although the focus of the event is old bikes, with 40,000 bikers in attendance you can see every bike imaginable riding the main drag.

After wandering around the paddock we sat and watched the races, browsed the swap meet and ogled the classic bikes. The old Triumphs and Nortons were a bit before my time but my Uncle Bill Shedaker will appreciate the classic BSA's:

Motorcycle Trip To Great Smoky Mountains

I recently took at trip to the Great Smoky Mountains with my Uncle Bill and Aunt Diana Shedaker.

Visiting Gatlinburg, TN to ride the beautiful roads of the Smoky Mountains and hiking the area peaks and waterfalls was a wonderful break for me.

The Triumph Sprint ST 1050 performed superbly while Bill's Vulcan 1500 was the perfect bike to torque up the mountains in comfort.

Graduation Announcements

Beth
As many of you know, I'm graduating very soon. I lost my list of people to send announcements to, so some people got announcements and some haven't.

If you have not yet received an announcement, please email me here and include your mailing address. Thanks!
